What better way to celebrate Beethoven’s upcoming 250th birthday than to perform one of his best-loved chamber works, the Quintet for Winds and Piano? Next, add a flute for the festive Sextet for Winds and Piano by Francis Poulenc. Prepare for a very special afternoon of chamber music! Please join pianist Pauline Martin in welcoming to the stage our talented Detroit Symphony Orchestra soloists: Alexander Kinmonth (oboe), Amanda Blaikie (flute), Ralph Skiano (clarinet), Karl Pituch (horn), Robert Williams (bassoon). Also featured: Lyrical selections by Willibald Gluck (Minuet and Dance of the Blessed Spirits), Saint-Saëns (Bassoon Sonata) and Fauré (Pavane for Wind Quintet).
Enjoy complimentary light refreshments, mimosas and coffee at 1:00 p.m.
