Edmund Rollett joined the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as Principal Horn in the fall of 2025, following a long tenure with the Utah Symphony as Associate Principal, including seven seasons as Acting Principal. He can be heard on numerous recordings as Principal Horn, notably Reference Recordings’s 2017 release of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with the Utah Symphony and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He has served as guest principal with the San Francisco Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
A member of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra since 2018, Rollett is active as a clinician and chamber musician. Projects include Michael Hersch’s evening-length Last Autumn for horn and cello. Prior to his appointment in Utah, he served as principal horn of
the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México and the Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México.
Away from the horn, he enjoys chasing his three children around, trail running, and reading books when time occasionally permits.
